I'm George Cwirko Godycki!
I'm a drawing instructor at Ringling College of Art and Design in Florida, with over 10 years of experience teaching Figure Drawing, Wildlife Illustration, and Visual Development. My passion is helping students build the observational skills and confidence essential for strong visual communication.
Outside the classroom, I’m constantly sketching, reading comics, or watching anime. I enjoy drawing inspiration from classic animation and international illustration.
I teach that gesture drawing is about capturing movement and life, not just a pose. I encourage my students to experiment, trust their instincts, and truly enjoy the focused process of drawing.
Originally from San Francisco, I now live in Florida with my silly dog.

Course Content
The course has 7 modules for 7+ hours of learning and practicing. It also includes full-length artwork tutorials! You can pause and replay the videos as much as you want. Since we'll be working with all of the human anatomy, the course is suitable only for mature artists, there will be explicit content. It would also be best to take the course in order, because it will start from the basics to lessons at a more advanced level.Â

Module 1
Introduction
This module consists of introductory lessons that serve as a welcome to the course. It begins with a general overview, followed by a brief tour of the studio and workspace, and a look into the art books that shaped the my work. Once settled, we'll move into foundational artistic concepts, exploring silhouettes and visual design using toys, learning to recognize and break down shapes everywhere. Finally, we'll have practical exercises focused on drawing confident lines.
Module 2
Getting started
This module consists of foundational lessons that serve as an introduction to gesture drawing. Begins with explaining what gesture drawing is, followed by techniques for finding the line of action, and a look at common mistakes. Once settled, we'll move into applying these concepts using ink. We'll explore gesture imagination and have practical draw-together exercises.
Module 3
Shapes
This module consists of lessons that serve as a guide to simplifying the human body. Begins with an exploration of the figure as simple shapes, followed by torso construction, and a look into drawing arms and legs as forms. Once settled, we will move into deeper artistic concepts, exploring the relationship between form, shadow and gesture. Finally, we'll have a shape demonstration to apply everything we have learned.
Module 4
Anatomy
This module consists of detailed lessons that serve as a guide to understanding the human body. It begins with an overview of the skeleton, followed by an exploration of major anatomical landmarks, and a look into extension and flexion. Once settled, we will move into specific body parts, exploring the shape design of heads and hair, as well as the shape design of legs and feet. We'll also have practical lessons focused on drawing hands and grouping form and shape variety.
Module 5
Shape Language
This module consists of stylistic lessons that serve as an exploration of visual storytelling. It begins with an introduction to shape language, followed by a breakdown of circles, squares and triangles, and a look into a practical shape demonstration. Then we will move into character design, exploring how to design strong silhouettes and convey character personality through shape. Finally, we'll focus on creating appealing body proportions.
Module 6
Inks and charcoals
This module consists of traditional media lessons that serve as an exploration of inking and shading techniques. It begins with an overview of ink pens and traditional tools, followed by a breakdown of line weight and visual hierarchy, and a look into spotting blacks. Once settled, we will move into lighting, exploring an introduction to light and shadow as well as simple forms. Finally, we will have practical lessons focused on using value to support design and an ink demonstration (Wait, let me fix that phrasing). Finally, we'll focus on using value to support design and a complete ink figure demonstration.
Module 7
Final picture
This module consists of lessons that serve as a guide to completing your final picture. It begins with planning, followed by gesture, and a look into construction. Once settled, we will move into refining the piece, exploring anatomy and shape design. Finally, we will have practical lessons focused on inking and rendering, with a final review and next steps.
